Dutch oven
deep-fry thermometer
- 1 1/2 cups Gluten Free 1-to-1 Baking Flour
- 1/3 cup Granulated Sugar
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp Ground Nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1 large Egg
- 1/3 cup Whole Milk
- 2 medium Granny Smith Apples, peeled and diced small
- Vegetable Oil for frying
For the Glaze
- 1 1/2 cups Powdered Sugar
- 3 tbsp Whole Milk
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
In a large bowl, whisk together gluten free flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Add egg and milk and stir until a thick batter forms. Fold in diced apples until evenly distributed.
Heat vegetable oil in a heavy pot or Dutch oven to 350F, filling about 3 inches deep. Line a baking sheet with paper towels.
Using a large spoon, carefully drop about 2 tablespoons of batter per fritter into the hot oil, working in batches of 3 to 4 to avoid crowding. Fry for 2 to 3 minutes per side until deep golden brown and cooked through.
Remove fritters with a slotted spoon and place on the paper towel-lined sheet to drain.
Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until a smooth glaze forms. Dip the top of each warm fritter into the glaze or drizzle it generously over them. Let the glaze set for 5 minutes before serving.
